Are your domains locked?

I thought it worth posting here especially for newbies as there's major drama going on elsewhere concerning some big domains.

A short while ago the rules were changed regarding domain names. It was big news and posted everywhere but some still seemed to have missed it or ignored it and I suspect people new to this may not realise...

The short of it is that if someone asks for your name to be transfered and you do not respond within 5 days you LOSE THE DOMAIN! Obviously you should get an e-mail but they can go missing, get filtered etc etc. The only way to stop this happening for sure is to set the status with your domain registrar to LOCK. If you haven't checked on this do so now and make damn sure that all of your domains are locked. Many domain services DO NOT do this by default.

As I say this is nothing new but something so easily ignored or overlooked.

It amazes me how many people don't lock down their domains. Virtually every registrar offers it as a free service.
